Hand built apx. 11 3/4" across, 1" depth
I made this first plate for my daughter to commemorate her wedding day. She sent it to me before getting it cleaned and preserved. I used white clay so the dress is not damaged or stained. I used the wedding party's coordinating color of lavender for contrast. I made 5 plates to figure out the technique. Two types of glazes were used to create the look of satin. In the 90's I worked for Chanticleer Ceramics in Ironton, Missouri and specialized in inscriptions for special order plates.
